About NPORS Accreditation

As anyone in the industry will be aware. NPORS founded in 1992, is one of the, if not the UK’s leading accrediting and registration bodies.

NPORS

SUPPORT AND STANDARDS
Founded in 1992, NPORS was formed to challenge the status quo within the construction industry and we are as dedicated to the goal of ensuring standards today as the day it all began.

NPORS stands firm on the principles it was founded on; supporting industry, regulated training and testing, consistent improvement, equal opportunities and transparency about how we work. Since it’s beginnings, NPORS has continued to progress to be a trusted and recognised name in the industry, offering employers a credible training alternative to the CPCS Scheme.

NPORS Aim

consistent standards and equal opportunity

At NPORS, we believe that everyone who operates any form of machinery should be qualified and competent to protect their safety and the safety of others. This is why we meet and maintain standards by providing regulated training and testing by those professionally qualified to do so.

We are proud to be able to offer employers the flexibility to train their workforce on site as well as at dedicated test centres. By offering training and assessments on site with the equipment that would be used every day, this mitigates the risk of any issues with transferring skills from different training equipment when working on site.

What is the NPORS card Scheme?

The NPORS (National Plant Operators Registration Scheme) card scheme provides a recognised qualification for plant operators across various industries, ensuring they meet national safety and competency standards. It offers flexibility with training conducted on-site or at approved centres like Vally Plant Training.

How long is the NPORS card valid for?

The NPORS card is typically valid for 5 years. After this period, operators must complete refresher training or assessment to renew their card and maintain their certification. The NPORS Red trained operator card lasts for 2 years at this point you must do the relevant level 2 NVQ to renew to the Blue competent operator card

What types of equipment can i be certified for under NPORS?

The NPORS scheme covers a wide range of equipment, including telehandlers, excavators, forklifts, cranes, and more. Specific categories are listed on the card, highlighting the operator’s qualifications. Please contact Vally Plant Training for a full list of training courses offered

How does NPORS compare To CPCS?

NPORS is a more flexible alternative to CPCS, often allowing on-site training and assessments, making it suitable for businesses that need tailored, location-specific instruction. Both schemes are recognised within the construction and plant industries.

What is the difference between a traditional and a CSCS affiliated NPORS card?

A traditional NPORS card is standalone and widely accepted across various industries. A CSCS-accredited NPORS card also integrates the operator’s CSCS Health, Safety, and Environment Test, making it suitable for sites that require CSCS compliance.
